WAGs Robbed of their Jewellery
Manchester United have hired security to patrol players’ homes while they are on tour after a string of recent robberies. Latest victim was 17-year-old striker Federico Macheda.
Two men were spotted wearing balaclavas as they smashed their way into his home in Sale, Manchester, on Sunday and stole a £20,000 watch and jewellery from the terrified Italian ace and a friend.
Five months ago, midfielder Darren Fletcher’s fiancee Hayley Grice had a “terrifying” ordeal when she was grabbed by the hair and forced to hand over her engagement ring after being threatened with a knife, after an armed gang broke into their £1.5 million home in Bowdon, Cheshire.
A source said:
“The club realises players’ families are more vulnerable when they’re away so they’ve put security on WAG Alert for the next fortnight.”
