WAG Hits Back At Roy Keane's Comments

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

Nicola Tappenden star of WAGs boutique has hit Sunderland’s high street, to see what all the fuss is about

Nicola dated footballer Bobby Zamora up until earlier this year and says: ‘It’s an outrage to assume WAGS only care about shopping and wouldn’t think of their fella’s career.”

The WAG was in for a bit of shock though, discovering that Sunderland city centre was a bit of a designer wasteland. However once Nicola got her head around the amount of pound shops there were and budget clothing stores, she let loose with her wallet.

Her first stop was Primark, where she picked up a very cute outfit for under £25, and believed it was as good as anything she spent a fortune on in London’s King’s Road. Although she did struggle to find her favourite Cerruti fragrance, and choice of Dior make-up. Well we can’t have it all Nic!

The WAG explains: I admit I wouldn’t like to do all my shopping here — it would drive me crazy having so little choice. But if it was for someone I loved then I’d definitely make the move — why not?”

She continues: ‘I think Roy’s an idiot for assuming all girls need designer shops to be happy somewhere. I think he should ask himself what the real reason players don’t want to come to Sunderland is.”

Miaow, Nicola!

WAGs Boutique – Final Score

WAGs Boutique Update - Episode 4This week’s episode reveals who is the winner of WAGs Boutique. The show moves out of the boutiques and into the studio as the girls join June Sarpong.

But before we find out who is the winning WAGs Boutique, there is one challenge left to win.

As the score is 5 all, both teams have everything to play for and this week’s challenge required all 10 ten WAGs to sell the remaining stock, they also had to have a WAGs’ walk-off, modelling 2 outfits each on the catwalk..

With Bows winning last week’s challenge they have a slight advantage as they have £1,000 worth of football kits to sell, which is proving to be a big hit, especially Michaela’s kit.

Meanwhile at Better Half, Jadene is so impressed with a canine customer that she phones her husband Marc to ask for a dog.

WAGs Boutique – Fashion Show

With one more chance to sell the last of their stock, the WAGs get ready for the fashion show with their mentors on hand to provide some tips for their WAG walk-off!

The girls parade themselves down the catwalk, but half way through Better Half start to play dirty and throw a banana skin on the catwalk, which backfires on them as Charlotte nearly slips on it.

Next day at the shops, the girls realise this is their last day working together as a team and most end up in tears as they close the shops for good.

WAGs Boutique – Challenge Results

Back in the studio, June reveals the results of this week’s challenge, Bows sold £22,764.88, but Better Half sell a total of £24,658.02, making them this week’s winners and adding a total of £47,422.90 to their grand total.

With this win Better Half are the leaders of the challenges with 6-5, but there are still two titles to be revealed.

WAGs Boutique – Most Popular WAG

With the challenge now out the way, it was time to reveal the viewers most popular WAG - Krystell Sidwell and she won her own column in Reveal magazine! WOW – more work!
WAGs Boutique – Winning WAGs Boutique

Now it is time to find out who has won the crown of winning boutique, with a total profit of £320,916.77 the winner is Bows.

As Bows are the winners of WAGs Boutique all the profit from both boutiques go to their charity Great Ormond Street hospital, who will receive a total of £362,529.88. Amazing!

Unfortunately, this is now the end of WAGs Boutique, well for this series anyway.

WAGs Boutique – The Football Challenge

WAGs Boutique Update - Episode 4Better Half is currently in the lead by 5 wins to 4, so the tension was high in both boutiques this week.

This week’s challenge was set by fashion editor for The Telegraph, Hilary Alexander. This week the WAGs are required to design their own football kits, which they will model and play 5-a-side football in! Watch out other half’s!!

The manager’s picked this week were Jadene for Better Half and Michaela for Bows.

WAGs Boutique – The Challenge

Jadene picks Heather and Cassie for the challenge (‘because Heather is great at design and Cassie hasn’t won a challenge.’). Michaela chooses Julie and Nicola T for Bows.

The girls go off to start designing their football kits. Cassie and Heather decide on a white kit with the Better Half logo and hot pant-style shorts. Bows select a blue strip with gold sash, draw-string bottoms and pink diamantes.

WAGs Boutique – Back at the boutiques

Manager Michaela decides to get some more stock for the Bows and makes three appointments with wholesalers. Krystell says: ‘Michaela works well when she is in charge. She’s only a problem when she isn’t the manager!’ However, later that day Michaela cuts her stock buying short and decides to go shopping instead, which doesn’t impress her employees!

Meanwhile at Better Half, manager Jadene has decided to hold a sale to try and get rid of some of their stock and raise even more money for charity.

Madeleine also gave Michaela a taste of her own medicine, as she was the one to play up this week!!

Back on the Challenge, both teams receive their kits and get to work to make them look glamourous and sexy.  Bows have a little bit of drama, as their sowing machine explodes on them, leaving them a little shaken up with Nicola saying: “Julie that could have killed you”. They do continue and finally the kits are ready.

WAGs Boutique – Bows v Better Half football match

Sunday arrives and its time to complete the challenge with a game of 5-a-side. Jadene and Julie‘s other halves, Marc Bircham and Kevin Phillips volunteer to manage the two teams. Marc sets his first rule – no lipstick until half time!

The match kicks off and Better Half is the first to score with a goal from Charlotte, but Better Half doesn’t stop there as they win by 4-0 (with Charlotte scoring 3 goals, proving she’s not just a pretty face).

As the full time whistle blows, its now time to find out this week’s winners.

Hilary Alexander provides her views on the two kits, and even though Better Half win the football game, it is Bows who impress her the most, making the score even.

Their prize is to see the Barnet Ladies FC sport the Bows’ strip. They also receive £1,000 of kit to sell in their boutique.

Now with the score 5 all and only 1 week to go, everything is to play for in WAGs Boutique.

WAGs Boutique Update - Episode 4With the score 4-2 to Better Half and only 5 challenges remaining this week’s challenge is more crucial than ever.

This week’s challenge is to sell a range of Isabella Oliver maternity wear for just one day.

The manager’s chosen this week are Jadene (Better Half) and Nicola T (Bows), but there is a twist for the manager’s, they will be swapping shops and managing their rival boutique!

The managers can’t nominate themselves for the challenges this week. So, for Bows, the challengers are Julie and Krystell and for Better Half, Elle and Heather.

Off the girls go to get started.

Both teams select 100 pieces of clothing, the challenge then gets a little harder as the girls get a spot on the shopping channel QVC.

WAGs Boutique
– Back at the boutiques

Charlotte from Better Half is absent due to illness, so Better Half are struggling with only Nicola and Cassie to man the shop, but manager Nicola makes it more interesting by throwing a pyjama party!

Meanwhile at Bows, Jadene is trying to control Michaela and sends her out to amuse the queues, for a short while this seems to work and keeps her in one place, but not for long. She escapes and joins the pyjama party next door.

Jadene then discovers mouse droppings in Bows and traces the source to Michaela’s half eaten food left lying in the stock room.

The girl’s on the challenge don’t seem to be having much success and are really struggling to find customers for their maternity range.

WAGs Boutique – Challenge Results

With the challenge drawing to a close, the girl’s head off to head quarter’s to find out the results.

With Better Half in the lead, Bows are hoping to be crowned winners this week.

The results are revealed and Bows win the challenge, making the score 4-3 to Better Half.
With only 4 weeks remaining, can Better Half stay in the lead?

WAGs Boutique – Hardest Challenge So Far

WAGs Boutique Update - Episode 4The girls challenge this week is to design an advertising campaign for their boutique; the winners get to see their campaign on billboards around London. The only request is that all of the girls feature on the design and they only have 24 hours to do it in!

The managers picked this week were Elle for Better Half and Krystell for Bows.

Krystell nominates Nicola T and Madeleine and Elle nominates Jadene and herself. As the girls are already in the offices of advertising maestro, they stay to get started while the others return to the boutiques.

WAGs Boutique – At the boutiques

The winners of last week’s challenge, Better Half receive their prize – two Scott Henshall dresses. They price the dresses at £250 each.

At Bows, manager Krystell has been held up; however Julie’s daughter has come into lend a hand in the shop for the day. When Krystell does arrive, she brings lots of goodies for the queue of customers to cheer them up while standing in the cold weather.

WAGs Boutique – Challenge update

Back at the advertising agency, the girls are busy working on their campaigns, but both seem to be struggling.

Nicola and Madeleine come up with a line they feel could be the winning advert – ‘How far would you go for fashion? As far as Bows’ and get to writing it on their board to see how it looks.

Meanwhile, Better Half choose the slogan – ‘No room for substitutes’ with a picture of their girls tearing Bows’ apart!

By the evening, the girls end up heading back to each others houses to continue working. By the end of the night the girls are finished – but very tired. They find this is definitely the hardest challenge they have had so far.

Next day, Jadene wakes up and realises she isn’t happy with their design so changes it to make it more simple.

With the challenge drawing to a close they head off to present their campaign to Trevor – or so they thought, when they arrived they realised he had invited 50 advertising’s top females to sit in and judge the presentations too.

Bows are the first up and make a really strong professional pitch, which surprises Trevor.

Better Half presents their campaign and Elle takes off her skirt to reveal she is wearing football shorts and socks! The girl’s idea is to have glamorous top half’s with footballer legs as their bottom half’s.

Trevor admits that both are very strong campaign, but who will win the challenge this week?

WAGs Boutique – Back at the bouqitues

After last week’s feedback from mentor Anna having a go at Michaela, Michaela decides to go out and buy new stock for their boutique. This really impresses mentor Anna this week and Michaela even turns up on Saturday at 9am to get started – has she turned over a new leaf?

Maybe not, she persuade team mate Julie to leave the shop without telling manager Krystell. When the girls return, Krystell is not happy and storms off to the toilet fuming.

WAGs Boutique – Challenge results

With the challenge now complete the girls arrive at head quarters to hear the results and feedback of this week’s challenge.

Trevor Beattie tells the girls he was very impressed with both of their campaigns and admits it was a very close decision. Although, there can only be on winner.

He reveals that Better Half made a fantastic pitch and Bows had an amazing creative. But, the deciding factor was the use of branding and for this he declares Better Half’s the winning campaign.

Better Half now lead by 4-2, so Bows will have to try even harder next week to catch up.

WAGs Boutique – Design a Celebrity Dress

WAGs Boutique Update - Episode 4This week’s challenge was given by Celebrity fashion designer Scott Henshall. The girls’ challenge this week is to design a red carpet dress for a secret celebrity. The winning team will see their design worn by their celebrity at an awards ceremony.

The manager’s picked this week were Cassie for Better Half and Michaela for Bows. Cassie chooses Heather and Charlotte for the challenge and Michaela selects herself (what a surprise) and Julie.

The girls head off to meet their secret celebrity. As Michaela and Julie arrive at Yorkshire TV, and they guess their celebrity is a soap star and they are right on target.

Their celebrity is Emmerdale star Adele Silva. Adele informs them of her preferences, something flattering for a smaller frame, quite fitted and definitely not neon…! The WAGs go off to impress the designer Mustafa, who will be making the dress, with their skills.

Heather and Charlotte head off the next day (as their celebrity was busy on Thursday) finding themselves on the set of Coronation Street, it is clear that they also have a soap star, actress Tupele Dorgu who says that she wants strong colours, the total opposite to Adele.

WAGs Boutique – Back at the boutiques

Back at the boutiques, Nicola T had been feeling a bit sad as she was missing her boyfriend Bobby Zamora too much, so her mum came to the boutique for a visit to cheer her up.

Meanwhile at Better Half, Cassie ‘The Decision Maker’ has decided to host a sale for all stock proving difficult to sell. With the organising to do, she closes an hour early to get the shop prepared.

Better Half have also realised it’s Elle’s birthday soon so they get two strip-o-grams in to surprise her. Very embarrassing for Elle, but very funny.

With Michaela having the role of manager this week, she decides to take advantage and leaves the shop early, leaving Madeleine and Julie to serve hundreds of queuing customers. What a great manager!!

WAGs Boutique – Challenge Results

With both dresses now completed the girls head off to receive their feedback and results.

Adele is the first to enter and is in a beautiful fitted corset dress with floating skirt, which was elegant, stylish and totally sexy in flattering nude tones.

Then Tupele appears in a bright pink and orange chiffon dress with mirror belt.

Scott reveals that both dresses are great but he can only choose one winner, he picks Better Half – although personally I would have chosen Bows design as it was gorgeous.

The prize this week is to attend a premiere party and they are given some of Scott Henshall’s own couture collection to sell in their boutique.

With Better Half now in the lead, will Bows be able to catch up, you’ll have to wait until next week to find out.

WAGs Boutique – The Vintage Challenge

WAGs Boutique Update - Episode 4This week’s challenge was to choose vintage clothes to sell at Portobello Market. With a total of 172 items, both teams have to pick 86 items each to sell on their stall.

The managers picked this week were Julie Philips for Bows and Charlotte Mears for Better Half. As usual, the managers pick two girls from their team to do the challenge, Julie picks Nicola and Krystell and Charlotte chooses Jadene and Elle.

Off the girls go to start their challenge and choose their 86 pieces of vintage clothing.

WAGs Boutique – At the boutiques

Back at the shops, Julie and Charlotte are laying down the rules, but both end up getting mocked by their team mates.

Charlotte seemed to be finding it difficult to control her staff. Cassie was sent out to get some lunch, but arrived back at the shop three hours later as she met up with Jadene for lunch. Obviously, this annoyed Charlotte and when Cassie finally got back to the shop, they ended up arguing and Charlotte burst into tears. Cassie said she just wanted to get her own back on Charlotte.

Meanwhile at the Bows, things were even worst for Julie. Michaela acting like a 12-year-old decides to play up Julie and go shopping while her team mates are left to do all the hard work.

WAGs Boutique – At the market

On Saturday, the girls arrive at the market really early to set up their stalls in the pouring rain. As the weather was pretty bad, the girls got off to a slow start. But Better Half make their first sale and there’s no stopping them. Bows even have to reduce all their prices to £1 to keep up with them.

After a hard day at the market, the girls call their managers and Nicola asks if she and Krystell can go home instead of going back to the shops. This doesn’t go down well with Michaela and she ends up shouting at Julie in front of all their customers and storming off home.

WAGs Boutique – Challenge Results

With the challenge complete the girls head off to find out who has won and to receive feedback from their mentors.

Bows mentor Anna Park, really lays into Michaela and said she should have been fired for the way she spoke to Julie, although Michaela doesn’t seem bothered.

The results are finally revealed, Bows sold £258.60 and Better Half sold a total of £497.27, making Better Half this week’s winners.

Now with the score being 2 all, both teams will be fighting hard to win next week’s challenge. Although, after this week’s arguments in Bows Boutique, I wouldn’t be surprised if Better Half takes the lead from now on.

WAGs Boutique – Challenge Number 3

WAGs Boutique Update - Episode 4This week’s challenge was set by the Star Style Editor for Now Magazine. Both teams had to art direct a photo shoot featuring clothes from their boutique, but had to appeal to the Now magazine readers. They also had to choose the props and model the styles themselves.

The manager this week picked by the public were Cassie for Better Half and Nicola T for Bows.

Manager Cassie nominates herself and Charlotte to do the challenge and Bows’ manager Nicola T opts for Madeleine and Michaela. They only had a few hours to organise the props and outfits, so the girls set off to start their challenge.

Madeleine and Michaela get off to a good start and choose ‘Monochrome madness’, in other words Black and White as their theme. They use a black lampshade as a prop, but realise that it really didn’t look good, so end up leaving it out.

Meanwhile, Charlotte and Cassie are struggling to find the right outfits to match their “Never Too Busy to Be Gorgeous” theme. Cassie realises that the clothes they have finally picked have no consistent style and even worse the photographer can’t stop laughing at their props (a selection of clocks) so the girls are forced to abandon them.

WAGs Boutique – Back at the Boutiques

As Bows sold out of their charity jumpers last week, Better Half decided to try and beat their rivals by ordering a load in themselves.

Bows are also faced with their first angry customer who demands compensation in the form of free product.

Bows were also running out of stock, but how would they stock their shelves without spending any more money?

Luckily manager Nicola T managed to persuade two wholesale companies to donate some stock, before the rush on Saturday. This definitely proved her managerial skills.

Both boutiques had a visit from fellow WAG and Celebrity Big Brother star Danielle Lloyd with the paparazzi in toe.

WAGs Boutique
– More heartbreak for one of the WAGs

It wouldn’t be a normal episode of WAGs Boutique without some bad news, Michaela found out there was a story in one of the papers that her ex-boyfriend Stewart Downing (of 4 years) has fathered a ‘love-child’, while he was with her. Poor Michaela, things couldn’t get any worse!

WAGs Boutique – Challenge Results

The challenge comes to an end and the girls and mentors get together for feedback. Both teams got really good feedback this week and for a change there was no fighting. However, only one team can win and the Star Style Editor for Now Magazine revealed that Bows were the winners. Bows win their shoot published in Now magazine and also got a bonus prize: their own column in Now (www.nowmagazine.co.uk).

With Bows now in the lead, Better Half will have to work even harder to win the challenge next week.

WAGs Boutique – Bows and Better Half battle it out for this week’s challenge

WAGs Boutique Update - Episode 4In this week’s episode of WAGs Boutique, Bows go to the Brits after winning last weeks challenge. While, Better Half’s Charlotte Mears and her boyfriend Jermain Defoe get engaged.

WAGs Boutique – Challenge Number 2

This week’s challenge is set by Justine Mills, owner of Cricket Boutique, where famous WAGs like Colleen McLoughin shop. The challenge is buying and selling, the girls have to choose a product to sell in their shop and the team with the greatest profit wins – easy!

The managers this week were Michaela for Bows and Jadene for Better Half. They then had to pick two girls from their team to go off and choose the stock. Charlotte and Heather are making the decision for Better Half and Nicola and Michaela for Bows.

Charlotte and Heather have trouble deciding between the Bags with Bows or the designer jewellery (worn by Kate Moss). In the end, Heather persuades Charlotte to go for the jewellery as she manages to get a fantastic deal on it. Nicola and Michaela choose the Bags with the Bows on (what a surprise).

Back at the shops, Bows have got people queuing round the corner for their charity pink hoodies and t-shirts, they end up running out of stock and had to start taking orders.

WAGs Boutique – Promoting and Selling their New Stock

To promote their new stock, Nicola T invites tabloid photographer to go to the boutique to get photos of the girls naked with only the bags covering their bits. The only problem was Krystell and Madeleine refusing to do the shoot and Julie’s husband Kevin Philips not wanting Julie to do it either. So, Nicola and Michaela pose for the camera, but do wear swim suits with the bags and bows in full view. They also hire a model to pose in the window with the bags.

On the first day with the new stock in the shops, Bows manage to sell all of their Bags, whereas Better Half seemed to be struggling.

Better Half decided to host a Champagne and Strawberries party to promote their stock and hand out loads of leaflets to Bows customers. Unfortunately, the strawberries got delivered to Bows, and before Better Half realised Julie had already handed most of them out, although they still had the champagne. The party was due to start at 6pm, so Charlotte and Heather went off to get stocked up with champagne, but with traffic being so bad they didn’t arrive until 7pm, so most of the customers had gone home already, so the party was a flop.

Next day the tension in Better Half was getting worse, Charlotte wanted to leave work early and ended up in an argument with Jadene. Later that night, Cassie and Jadene start arguing over Cassie selling her ‘kiss and tell’ story about her relationship with Michael Essien to the tabloids.

WAGs Boutique – Challenge Results

Finally, the following day Better Half sell all their stock and both teams go off to get their feedback and results of this week’s challenge.

Winners of this week’s challenge are to receive £2000 worth of stock from Cricket Boutique to sell in their boutique making 100% profit for their charity.

Bows impressed the judges with selling all their stock in one day, however the challenge was to make the most profit and with bows getting a reasonable discount on their stock, Heather managed to get an even bigger discount for Better Half.

The results were:

Bows’ profit – £906
Better Half profit – £3,186

Better Half win this week’s challenge fair and square, although Nicola T didn’t think so, she accused Better Half of trading on Lyn Gardener’s (Better Half’s mentor) friendship with the designer. Lyn hits back saying Nicola always gets ‘her tits out’. All hell breaks loose and
Nicola storms out in disbelief.

What will happen in WAGs Boutique next week? Will Nicola and Lyn make up?

Don’t miss WAGs Boutique next week – Tuesday on ITV2 at 9pm.
