With the 2009 Ashes under way, I thought it was a good time to give you a little insider information about a few of the cricket WAGs.

Batting for Australia is model Lara Bingle (above) who is fiance of vice-captain Michael Clarke.

The lingerie model is quite famous in her homeland of Australia, so we look forward to hearing more about her.

Bowling for England is Jessica Taylor wife of Kevin Pietersen.

Jessica has had a few career paths including singer in Liberty X, appearing on Dancing on Ice and now modelling.

Our last WAG we love is Rachel Flintoff wife of England ace Andrew Flintoff.

Rachel is a stay at home Mum with three children to look after, and also does a lot of charity work.

With the Ashes starting yesterday we are hoping to see these WAGs, and others supporting their men on the side lines!

Cricket WAG Jessica Taylor has given away her beauty tips to Fabulous mag, and now I’m passing them on to you.

So I reckon this popstar must be doing something right to be in such great shape, apart from all that ice dancing of course….

Jess reveals that she uses simple cleansing wipes to remove her make-up and swears by Elizabeth Arden’s 8 Hour Cream that she says is ‘a face mask, lipgloss and graze treatment all in one’. 

The WAG has obviously been keeping in shape on Dancing on Ice, but the popstar also does regualr workouts and goes rollerblading with her hubby Kevin Pietersen.

With summer coming up Jessica realises the importance of looking after her skin and so uses Malibu Dry Oil Spray SPF 20 to keep her from getting sizzled in the sun.

Jessica Taylor is obviously pretty body confident but one area she isn’t keen on is her feet, which are a rather large size 8. But hey ho there could be worse things to have wrong eh Jess!

Wife of Cricket captain Kevin Pietersen, Jessica Taylor is taking part in this year’s Dancing on Ice!

January sees the return of the light entertainment show Dancing on Ice, where a group of let’s say D-list celebs try and boost their status to a C-grade.

On the bright side at least it replaces Strictly and X Factor as something half decent to watch on a Saturday night.

Cricket WAG, Jessica Taylor is one of the favourites to win along with former X Factor finalist Ray Quinn, Remember him (the year of Leona)?!!

Jessica says: ‘I saw Ray on the first day, and he was brilliant even then. Straight off he was doing spins and little jumps and obviously he’s a dancer anyway, so he’s got that going for him too.’

The Liberty X star adds: ‘I just love the show, I love everything about it. I love the fact that it’s a great opportunity to get fit and toned and it’s a personal challenge.

‘It’s a big thing to undertake, it puts you out of your comfort zone, which I think is a good thing.’

Jessica has already had some skating experience, coming second in the BBC’s Strictly Ice Dancing in 2004, which have got some fans a bit miffed, no suprise there, people will complain about anything these days.

Jessica Taylor (from Liberty X fame) has done rather well for herself by bagging the England Cricketer Kevin Pietersen.

The singer got married to the very successful new Captain eight months a go and couldn’t be happier.

Jessica says: ‘I’m so proud of him. He has done brilliantly.’

The reality star also admits she understands the female attention her hubby gets, but isn’t worried: ‘I know what sort of man he is and don’t need to worry. It doesn’t matter what these women do.’

‘And, anyway, it’s natural that he should get so many admirers — he’s fit.’ - So he is Jessica, well done you!

Jessica reveals that she wasn’t the biggest fan of Cricket before meeting her hubby, she says: ‘Before I met Kevin I had never even seen a cricket match. But I’ve had a proper initiation and understand all the rules now.’

‘I’m really enjoying supporting him. I go to every game possible. I love it.’

Jess has been writing new material with former bandmate Kelly Young: ‘I really miss singing so being back in the studio and writing is fantastic. It’s great doing something creative again.’

At least they’re not including Michelle Heaton, eurrgh!

Jessica didn’t know fiance Kevin Pieterson was a top cricket player

The former Liberty X star claims she had no idea fiance Kevin Pietersen was a top England batsman, when she met him.

The couple have been named the Posh and Becks of Cricket, and are to wed in September. Jessica and Kevin met through mutual friends. 

Jessica admits: ‘I had to ask if he was a batter or a bowler — I didn’t really know who he was.’

Cricket WAGs following their partners on tour, could be a thing of the past.
English cricket has been humiliated by the Australian’s. The 5- 0 whitewash in the Ashes, was their worst performance since 1921. The English Cricket Board (ECB), look to be offloading some of the blame on the WAGs.

The ECB has requested a review of its much criticised decision to allow the wives and girlfriends (WAGs), following suggestions the WAGs had become a circus’ distracting the players, much like the football WAGs in the 2006 World Cup.

It’s understandable that the cricket authorities are taking a view on the situation as the entourage that accompanied the 16 players and 12 backroom staff had reached more than 90 people at one point.

Some of the cricket WAGs are high profile names in their own right;

Jessica Taylor, fianc ée of Kevin Pietersen, is in pop band Liberty X and Andrew Strauss’s wife Ruth, is an Australian actress. Whereas some of the ‘wannabies’ have been more of a concern. For example, England’s captain Andrew Flintoff was accompanied by his wife Rachael Flintoff since before the First Test six weeks ago.

Supermodel Minki van der Westhuizen winner of ICC Trophy

Online gaming phenomenon Stick Cricket has just announced the winner of its International Cricket Cutie (ICC) Trophy award, which has been voted by over 10,000 cricket fans and the sticky game, proving that the nickname WAGs isn’t just limited to footballers wifes and girlfriends.

The winner of the Trophy with 30.45% of the vote is supermodel Minki van der Westhuizen, who recently split from South African cricket captain Graeme Smith. Minki and Smith were South Africa’s answer to Posh and Becks.

Runner-up in the International Cricket Cute Trophy was Madhi Muralitharan, wife of Sri Lankan spin wizard Murali Muralitharan.

Meanwhile, Australia struck an early blow in the battle for the Ashes with two WAGs coming in the top five — in third place is Haley Bracken wife of Nathan Bracken and in fifth place is Liz Kemp partner of Brett Lee.

Finally in fourth place is England’s Liberty X singer Jessica Taylor, fiancee of England’s batsman Kevin Pietersen’s.

WAGs who weren’t in the top five include Georgie Willis (Mrs Simon Katich’), Rachel Flintoff (Mrs Andrew Flintoff), Natasha Berridge (Mrs Chris Gayle) and Thandeki Ntini (Mrs Makhaya Ntini).
